This book is amazing! As a frequent Young Adult reader, you'll normally get tired of the usual paranormal themes: vampires, elves, and so on. Can I just say that this book's theme is completely different from all the others that are easily available out there. So, the premise goes that during creation, there were 6 children that were sort of "cast away and hidden" and God found out about them and decided to let them become the chosen ones - their descendants would aspire to become a chosen one. Enter the current time, in Sunny Florida with the main character, Sonia.Without giving any other spoilers (I just gave you the intro right there so you can at least be hooked in the story), the story revolves around these chosen ones and their magical powers (which, as I said, are completely different from what the other paranormal books I have read about). What's also a plus is it's just so real - the setting, the day to day life in which the characters revolve in. It's not set in some magical fairyland which you'll have to think about so yes, you may think that there really are some chosen ones out and about you.
Fantastic book, it's got an okay amount of pages (not too long, not too short either), which would leave you hanging about for the next installment of the series. One down side is that there is no physical copy available in Amazon -- just don't like the fact that I'll need to read using my Kindle all the time, would like to have more options (like either an audiobook or a physical copy).
Another downside? Well, Kindle books normally mean that you can't borrow it from a library but the price point of owning this (at $5) should be a good investment - if not, you can get it as part of Kindle Unlimited!

Wraithsong Desirable Creatures Book I Volume 1 E J Squires 9781492219903 Books Reviews
Wraithsong the first book of the Desirable Creatures series is written by E. J. Squires. This book is 264 pages and falls into the category of young adult paranormal romance. Sonia, the main character, is seventeen years old and feels completely different than all of her other high school classmates. Not only does feeling shy make high school difficult but Sonia also has a secret that she has to keep guarded. She is a huldra, a descendant of a Norse mythological creature. To top it off she has been sworn to secretly by her mother and isn’t allowed to be told many details until the day she turns 18.
This book is well written and a very captivating read. The characters were by far my favorite part of the novels. I felt like each character had a distinct voice and style. I was able to clearly envision them in my mind and the dialogue flowed well. I especially loved the added twist that the main character Sonia has to deal with. Being a Huldra, her saliva has magical powers so she is not allowed to kiss anyone. It hasn't been much of an issue in the past but after the romantic interest, Anthony, enters her life, it starts becoming more problematic.
I gave the book five stars. This is a self-published novel that is well edited and reads like a traditionally published novel, it is obvious the author put a lot of time and research into the writing of the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an interesting read that intertwines classic mythology with the struggles of being a teen in today’s world.
I just wasn't thrilled with this book. The storyline seemed fresh, but the plot was hackneyed... many predictable things. People either good or bad, the love story offered nothing new, descriptions of wealth over the top and many created words awkward (Cherubo? Really?).
It wasn't bad, but probably not worth the time I spent reading it. Also had too much of that series thing going on for me. I guess I'm getting tired of books that can't stand alone - and at the end of this one, very little is resolved.
Sonia, a young teenager, soon to be 18 years old, is different from all other teenagers her age. She has the ability to control people. Sonia has to follow very strict rules, something she doesn’t really understand as her mother is always so extremely vague about it. Soon she meets Anthony, the only boy she actually has any interest in. Things haven’t been easy for poor Sonia. She has to overcome a few twist and turns in her life. Starting by knowing who she really is, saving her mother from Maureen that was taken to Wraithsong Island, fighting for her fifth Huldra gift and embracing true love all at once isn’t an easy task for Sonia.
The story is rich in Norse Mythology. I have to be honest, up until now I didn’t know much about it and wasn’t really drawn to it. However, I must say I am more than thankful I came across Wraithsong. Such a wonderful paranormal romance story. Other than wanting to know more about Norse Mythology, I fell completely in love with the plot. Every time I thought I knew what was about to happen the author just gave it an unexpected twist. The characters are dynamic and very well written. And while I was reading, it felt as if I was a part of everything, the book is full of great descriptive detail. I don’t just like to read a story, I like to be in it. It was good to read something other than vampires and werewolf drama.
Wraithsong is the first book of the Desirable Creatures series and was the first book I read from E.J. Squires. I am definitely not going to stop here; I’ll be waiting for Sonia’s happy ending.
