Expendables is a collection of war stories assembled from the author’s four trips to Vietnam. I couldn't put this book down when I began reading it. Kinsey wrote a really great autobiography, disguised as a novel. The book has the feel of the reality of the war, so I am sure that it is autobiographical. I truly couldn't put it down once I started to read it. I started reading it in the late afternoon and finished it at 5:00 AM the next morning. I am sure that I will read it again in the future. It is that good. Get a copy and enjoy it yourself. A very detailed account of a young man's personal experience of before,during and after the Vietnam war.
Well worth the read and is recommended.
i wish more veterans could exspress there feelings like this,it is not a man telling a story it was about a man living a story .i would not only buy it again ,but would be happy to share it.

A very moving story. Told by a commanding officer. He loved his marines. He also suffered ptsd and described it.
This book is a series of short stories reflecting the author's experiences in Vietnam, and touches on his experience of PTSD. He comes across as a decent officer concerned about the wellbeing of his men. Well worth reading.
Good accouting of a portion of the Viet Nam war that should not have been. If one wanted to see the trails and hardships that a segment of Matrines went through, this book is for you.
Sorry we lost so many brave people for sa senseless mission with no outcome. Government never seems to change.
My grandfather wrote this. He died about six weeks ago and unfortunately, this event sparked me to read this in entirety. I'd read parts of it before, mostly from other versions of his journals he'd hand written and shared within the family. Growing up, I'd heard his Marine Corps stories for years but he never shared the really painful ones discussed here. I think writing about it gave him some relief. Bottom line, if reading first hand Vietnam accounts interests you, you'll enjoy this.
